A Milestone Conquered - 29 June 2011

In 2007 I started armwrestling and since that first day that Judy Jacobs beat me on the table I have been chasing her.  Unfortunately in December 2010 Judy lost her fight against cancer and my hopes of ever winning her were crushed.  But I knew there was another way of proving I have it in me to have beaten her on the table if she was still with us.

I had to beat Adri Koen - she had beaten Judy Jacobs at nearly every National Championships since 2007 and thus if I could win Adri, I would have crossed that milestone in my journey to become a World Champion.

So on Wednesday 29 June 2011 I faced off against Adri Koen (in the yellow above) on the table and the results left me happy, teary eyed and nostalgic all at the same time.

I initally thought she had beaten me right off the bat, just to find out I had lifted my elbow.  Phew!  Boy was I happy about that.  So when we set up again I promised myself to make it count.  And I did!

I am so grateful to God for giving me this gift and ability, even though I only discovered it much later in my life compared to some of the best female armwrestlers out there.  Now I have to continue training hard, resting appropriately and doing the necessary to help my muscles and tendons to heal faster and properly.  This includes the use of infrared lights to assist with healing and bloodflow.

Anyway, enough chit chat here is the video clip of me pulling Adri.  Hope you enjoy!
